Student Support Services (SSS) provides academic, personal, career, and financial advising and support services to low income and first generation college students, as well as students with disabilities. A federally funded TRIO program, SSS provides assistance to 350 eligible students each year.
TRIO are programs funded through the Department of Education, which provide educational opportunities designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes eight distinct outreach programs which serve and assist students as they progress through the academic pipeline from middle school through college. UW-La Crosse is the host institution for three TRIO programs including SSS, Upward Bound and McNair. For more information click on TRIO.
Student Support Services and the other TRIO programs are represented by The Council for Opportunity in Education (COE). COE is a non profit organization established in 1981 to represent institutions of higher education, administrators, counselors and teachers committed to advancing equal educational opportunities and to promote diversity in America's colleges and universities.
