
Information Technology Services offers free training for registered UW-La Crosse students. Classes cover computer training on popular software. No registration is required, but seating is limited. Students are admitted first-come, first-served basis.

Q & A / Help SessionsStop in any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday evening throughout the semester with any questions regarding your electronic portfolio. Additional sessions have been added the last month of the semester. Stop with questions or stay and work the entire two hours. TLC staff is available to provide assistance, either one on one or group instruction. Stop in for help on any of the workshops listed above. These Q & A sessions are scheduled every week January 29 - May 11. Workshops do not meet during spring break!

Creating an Electronic Portfolio using FrontPage or SharePoint DesignerWe will take a look at some sample e-portfolios and begin your understanding of how to use FrontPage or SharePoint Designer to create your portfolio electronically. Topics include basic FrontPage and Sharepoint Designer instructions, creating a web folder, using a template, setting styles, creating hyperlinks, themes, shared borders and tables. You will have a good start to your portfolio at the end of this workshop. (90 minutes.)

*Finishing Touches to your Electronic PortfolioNow that you have completed your e-portfolio, where do you go next? It is important to make your e-portfolio accessible to advisors and future employers. You will learn how to do this in two different ways: creating CD’s to hand out or publishing your e-portfolio. |

Reading Campus Email with OWACome and find out how easy it is to correspond with your instructors and friends (or anyone with an email address). You will learn how to send, receive, reply, and delete messages, attach files, locate email addresses and set up your personal address book.

Internet 101 and Searching the WebThis informational session does not include hands-on, but a presentation/demonstration. You will see how easy it is to find information using Internet Explorer and several search engines. Find out how to search for information and how to set up favorites for future reference! Creating a Web Page with SharePoint Designer.Are you interested in designing a Web page? We will take a look at some sample pages and begin your understanding of a Web page using Microsoft’s WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web editor. HTML (HyperText Markup Language)We will take a look at some sample Web pages and begin your understanding of hypertext markup language (HTML), the language used to create Web pages. This class will cover basic HTML code. |

Scanning and Microsoft Picture ManagerDo you want to add a picture to your web page or send someone a recent picture using email? Come and find out how to use the scanners available for student use on campus. There is at least one scanner in every GCA lab. We will discuss how to scan the image, basic image manipulation, save the image, and image output. Bring an image with you to class that you would like to scan.

Using Word to Write a PaperThis hands-on MS Word training covers opening files, creating new files, formatting text, inserting footnotes and page numbers, grammar checking, saving and printing a document.

Creating a Spreadsheet-ExcelThis course uses MS Excel, a spreadsheet program. Spreadsheets organize and manipulate numerical and text data. Basic entry, editing, using formulas and printing concepts are presented. Also learn how to create graphs and charts.

Introduction to Databases-AccessDatabase basics will be covered. Access is used to keep track of long lists of information that can be searched, queried, and printed in various reports. A small database will be created in class.

Creating a Presentation Using PowerPointDo you need to create a presentation or some overheads? PowerPoint is the program for you. It allows you to create a professional presentation in minutes. After attending this course, you will have the basic knowledge of what PowerPoint can do for you.
