University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Student Association President

 

Erik Kahl

The Student Association President is the face of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Student Association. The President has a very active role in lobbying for La Crosse students to the UW-System as well as to local, state, and federal political figures. The President is the head of the Executive Branch and ensures that initiatives passed by the Student Senate are executed and followed through with.

 

Erik Kahl is the 2009-2010 Student Association President. Erik is currently at senior with a major in Spanish Education. He is originally from Walworth, Wisconsin and intends to graduate in May 2011.

 

Erik has been involved with student governance at UW-L since he came to the University. He was elected Freshman Senator during his freshman year and Greek Senator during his sophomore and junior years. Erik has also served on numerous committees while involved with Student Association including Academic Initiatives Oversight Committee, where he served as chair during his sophomore and junior years.

 

While at UW-L, Erik has also been involved as the president of Sigma Tau Gamma and has also served on the Planning Committee for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He has also participated in the Alternative Spring Break: Jamaica experience and has conducted undergraduate research in Ecuador.

 

Amidst his busy schedule, Erik still manages to find time to enjoy his other interests and passions including traveling, photography, kayaking, cooking, spending time with his family, community service, and planning large events.

 

Erik has taken a specific interest in student safety and is the Director of Operation River Watch. He hopes to keep student safety as a top priority this year with the construction that is affecting the campus.
