Matthew Zahn
-Year in School: 5th Year Senior
-Why you came to UW-L: I came to UW-L because of its reputation as a leading institution of higher education in the Midwest. It was clear to see from that first campus tour that UW-La Crosse was a very special place. I was impressed with the invaluable opportunities offered on this campus and the dedication and reverence given to students by Administration, Faculty, and Staff. Not to mention the beautiful backdrop the City of La Crosse provides. A decision I’ll never regret.
-Other Groups I’m involved In: In previous semesters at UW-L I was heavily involved in University Theatre, having earned my minor in Theatre Arts. Currently, my main focus is participation in Student Association related institutions. I currently serve on the following bodies:
--Joint Planning and Budget Committee
--Academic Affairs Committee
--Legislative Affairs Committee
--Joint Legislative/Regent Relations Committee
--Faculty Senate (Student Association Liaison)
-Goals for This Year: My goals this year are to act as an effective and courteous steward of §36.09(5) and all other shared governance issues. I would like to work hand in hand with our “Buddy” Regents and the Board as a whole as well as our local elected state officials in Madison to continue to advocate and address issues pertinent to student issues and rights not only on our campus but for all UW students. I’m also excited to get a chance to work with the UC of Wisconsin Students to bring the opportunities they offer to our campus.
