Alexis Smith is serving
as the Social Justice Director for the 2013-2014 academic
year. She is an Organizational and Professional
Communication Studies major with a minor in Broadcast and
Digital Media from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Upon her
graduation in May 2015, Alexis will pursue her Juris
Doctorate and Masters Degree.
Deciding to attend the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse was an easy decision for Alexis. After touring the university she immediately knew where she wanted to attend college, therefore, it was the only school she applied to. Since then she has been involved in many organizations. She is currently a McNair Scholar, Student Representative for the Student Union Planning Committee, Public Relations Ambassador for the Intercultural Organization Promoting Awareness (IOPA), Co-Chair of the Diversity Organization Coalition (DOC), Inclusive Excellence Mentor, and UW-L Cheerleader.
Alexis is the Social Justice Director because she believes it is essential to represent and protect the underrepresented students of UW-L. Her goal is to create awareness on campus about issues such as racism, sizeism, and disability discrimination through outreach.
