UW-L Symphony Orchestra
Course number & section: MUS 155 001 ORCHESTRA

The Symphony Orchestra is the main ensemble in the Orchestral Program at UW-L. The group performs 5 to 6 concerts a year including tours in the Midwest and abroad. Membership is by auditions only and they are held on Sunday/Monday of the Labor Day weekend. They are 7 minutes in length and include a short excerpt of a concerto, sonata, or etude and sight reading. In addition, string players are required to perform a 3 octave scale. Woodwind and brass players will be required advanced accuracy of chromatic scales (as many octaves as possible within the practical range of the instrument), clef reading and transpositions where applicable. Rehearsals: Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-6:30. Register for the course to sign up for an audition.
