Peter J. Talen Memorial Scholarship
The Department of Theatre Arts at UW-L and the family of Peter Talen have created a memorial scholarship in Peter’s name. The Peter J. Talen Scholarship will help fund a first-year theatre major at UW-L. Peter, from Plymouth, WI., was a junior majoring in theatre performance. He died Sunday, November 18, 2007 in a fire while visiting friends in Madison, Wisconsin.
Peter began his UW-L theatre career as Bacchus in the award-winning production of Metamorphoses which was chosen to advance to the regional level of the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival in 2003. An actor of the highest caliber, Peter had taken the fall 2007 semester off to act as a gun-slinger in a wild west reenactment in Colorado. He had planned to return to classes at UW-L spring semester 2008.
Peter will always be remembered for his playfulness, his beautiful stage presence and his kind heart. Peter graced the UW-L stage in many productions including:
The Laramie Project
The Music Man
Romeo & Juliet
