Purpose of the TowerCard

In June 2004, UW-La Crosse launched a new ID, the TowerCard. The TowerCard provides a single ID card system with a variety of features to make campus life easier than ever.

Single ID Card System - The TowerCard works as an ID card to provide access to campus facilities such as:

• Residence Halls
• Eagle Rec Center
• Library Services
• Dining Service - Meal Plans
• Copy machines
• Metro Bus Service
• Anytime you are asked to produce an official university ID card

Financial Aid Change Checks-- Processing financial aid change checks is time-consuming and expensive. You shouldn't have to wait in line for hours to receive your money. With the TowerCard, you can have your financial aid change check processed quickly. After activating your new card at www.UWLTowerOne.com, you can choose one of three methods to receive your change check. Deposit to your OneAccount, electronic transfer to another bank or have a paper check mailed to you. For more information, visit our financial aid change check informational page.

Free, No-Minimum Balance Checking -- One of the options with your TowerCard is to activate a free, no-minimum balance checking account. Through the OneAccount, you can use your card as a debit card wherever MasterCard is accepted. OneRewards -- When using your card as a MasterCard, you can earn OneReward points at various local merchants which can be redeemd for merchandise and other items. Check out www.UWLTowerOne.com for more information.

Tower Tender or OneAccount -- There is probably some confusion about Tower Tender and the Higher One OneAccount. Tower Tender is used on campus at dining services, the book store, laundry services, vending machines and other locations. Tower Tender has a separate balance from your free OneAccount but can be automatically refilled using your OneAccount funds with Auto Load.

The OneAccount is a free, no-minimum balance checking account. You can spend these funds anywhere MasterCard is accepted. In locations like the book store where both Tower Tender and MasterCard are accepted, you will need to tell them which you wish to use.
