    RECREATION AS A RELATED SERVICE IS:

     Significant in its impact on the social and psychological adjustment of an individual.
     Instrumental in the development of a sense of self-worth and identity of an individual.
     Essential regarding the ability of an individual to interact with others and his/her environment.
     A functional tool that can be used to achieve social, emotional, and physical objectives identified in the
           student's IEP.
     A vehicle by which the student can experience important aspects of community adjustment, especially
           in the transition from school to work.
     Empirically significant in the successful integration of persons with disabilities into their community.
