Welcome to the TutorCast Project

Hello Math Tutors!

For those of you who don’t know me, let me introduce myself…I’m Dr. LeDocq. I’ve been a member of the Math Department for a long time (this is year 18!), but have not had the opportunity to have all of you in class…yet!

I want to let you know about an exciting new project that we are starting this year in which you play a vital role. It is called the TutorCast Project. The goal of the project is to create a bank of podcast solutions to frequently asked questions from the Math Learning Center (MLC). The podcasts will then be made available online and can be used by anyone, anywhere there is a computer with internet access. Initially, we will work on some pre-selected questions while you begin keeping track of those FAQs.

Each of you will be trained, by me and/or each other, to create these podcasts. This will be a great opportunity for you to be exposed to some new technology and software, and create a lasting memory of your hard work in the MLC. It also never hurts to have one more thing for your resume!

Welcome to the TutorCast Project!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rebecca L. LeDocq

Materials for tutors:

As with many projects of this type, we would like to be able to assess the impact of the project. This impact is of two types: 1) the impact on those who use the podcasts, and 2) the impact on those who create them, that is you, the tutors. In order to collect data concerning your experience with this project, I need your permission. This is completely separate from your taking part in the project, and is completely voluntary. Please read and consider the Tutor Consent Form.
