The UW-L Student Optimist Club is a great opportunity to work with children and to volunteer in the La Crosse community. It is also a great way to meet other students on campus and to get involved. The Optimist Club works with the La Crosse YMCA, Boys' and Girls' Club, and the Children's Museum on projects for children.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters UW-L Student Chapter is an organization to expand the network of "bigs" and supporters on the UW-L campus. This organization will assist "bigs" in finding out the most information regarding volunteer opportunities within the community. We also work with various community volunteer events to help the community.

Campus Girl Scouts is a branch of the Girl Scout movement established to provide service to the community, council, and campus. The main focus is on the development and gaining volunteer experience that will help with future college job expectations. All students, male and female, are welcome to attend our meetings.

American Cancer Society's Colleges Against Cancer is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff directed to eliminating cancer by initiating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society in college communities.

Gamma Sigma Sigma is a national service sorority that focuses not only on friendship, meeting new people, and becoming part of a organization, but also serving both the community and campus by participating in volunteer activities and service projects. Some of the organizations to whom we lend a helping hand are: the YMCA, the Boys and Girls club, Special Olympics, March of Dimes, and nursing homes.

Habitat for Humanity International, Inc., a Georgia non-profit corporation, is an ecumenical Christian housing organization that works in partnership with people in need to improve the conditions in which they are forced to live. The UW-L campus chapter has been established to assist Habitat by working with the local affiliate and Habitat's international headquarters in order to bring the benefits of the organization to the La Crosse community.
