UW-L eagle names down to six
Contest runs through Jan. 16
Baldy. Eddie. Edgar. Ernie. Screech. Talon.
One of those six names will be the name of UW-L's eagle mascot. The university’s eagle mascot has cheered on athletic teams for nearly 20 years — without a name. Most fans refer to the mascot as “The Eagle,” but in January that will change.
Students, faculty and staff can vote for one of the names that made it through the first round of competition that involved names submitted by students. Voting runs through Friday, Jan. 16.
The top three winning names will be announced during the 3 p.m. men’s and 5 p.m. women’s home basketball games against UW-Eau Claire Saturday, Jan. 24. When the winning name is announced that day, the eagle will debut its new UW-L jersey.
One person who votes for the winning name will be selected randomly to win a life-time general admission all-sports pass to all home athletic contests, excluding conference and regional tournament games.
For more information about the contest, or to take part in it (students and employees only), visit: Name-the-eagle Web site at www.uwlax.edu/name-the-eagle/.

This year’s program, 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Wing Technology Center, features “Saving Time, Saving Money and Enhancing Learning.” Participants will learn how technology can increase efficiency by saving time and money, and enhancing teaching and learning through a wide variety of creative presentations.
