The psychology department recently completed its biennial survey of graduating psychology seniors. Of the 93 spring 2009 graduating seniors, 77 completed the questionnaire and 52 percent of those responding indicated they had applied to graduate school for fall 2009. Highlights of the findings include that over 90 percent were accepted; there were only three known rejections. For the past 12 year over 30 percent of the graduating psychology seniors report attending graduate school and feedback from graduate programs indicates a high level of admiration for UW-L students’ preparedness for graduate level work. For students who wish to be licensed mental health clinicians, a graduate degree is required.
Marcia G. Thompson, art, has been selected by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) to receive the Wisconsin Art Educator of the Year Award. The award honors an outstanding member from each state or province association whose service and contribution to art education merits recognition and acclaim.
