Sue Lee brings nearly 30 years of experience in the communications field to her role as editor of the Campus Connection, the university's employee e-newsletter. It now incorporates the Eagle Connection, the student e-newsletter, as well.
Lee's ties with UW-L date back to 1978 when she moved to La Crosse to attend UW-L after having served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Lee worked in various departments at UW-L as a student while she pursued a liberal arts degree with an English major and photography and mass communications minors.
After Lee graduated in 1982, she worked in public relations at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. In 1985, Lee returned to UW-L in one of the university's first job shares as UW-L's agency print manager/publications editor while completing courses for a Master of Education-Professional Development degree. Lee, who was a single parent, wrote her 1987 master's thesis on the needs of single-parent students at UW-L. Her thesis was one impetus for the development of UW-L's award-winning Self Sufficiency Program.
After earning a master's degree, Lee worked as a customer service representative for Isola, an international computer laminate manufacturer formerly known as Norplex Oak; and as a marketing editor at Sagebrush, the library automation company formerly known as Winnebago Software Co.
Lee returned to UW-L in 1996 to resume duties as agency print manager/publications editor. In that role, Lee was the art director of UW-L's Alumnus magazine, which earned a Bronze Medal in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District V "Pride of CASE V" competition. Lee was named the editor of the Connections in 2007. Along with writing articles and shooting photos for various university publications, Lee also maintains the University Communications and the UW-L Foundation Web sites. Lee writes, edits, updates and posts information for UW-L's home page, including "Campus News," "Upcoming Events," and "In the Spotlight."
Lee is an avid photographer and has taught photography classes at UW-L and Western Technical College. She and her husband have owned and operated Lee's Studio, a portrait and wedding photography business, since 1994. Lee also takes photos for La Crosse's Irishfest celebration and helps with graphics for the event.
