Welcome to the Undergraduate Research and Creativity Center

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is dedicated to supporting research and scholarly activities of students. UW-L students have been involved in research projects and scholarly activities for many years. The UW-L Undergraduate Research Committee aims to formalize and institutionalize this experience on campus.

The Undergraduate Research Committee offers support to students in the form of funding, publication of the Journal of Undergraduate Research, and sponsorship of both the UW-L Celebration of Research and Creative Activity and UW-System Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creativity.

New award amounts!

Grants are available on a competitive basis to support undergraduate and international undergraduate research and creative activities to all full-time and part-time undergraduates. Two competitions are held each year—one during spring semester and one during fall semester.

New award amounts & category :

Please note that new forms have been created to reflect the updated award amounts. Be sure to use these new forms when applying for fall 2008 undergraduate grants.

Domestic projects : A maximum of $1,350 is available for domestic projects with one student. This year, we have created a new award category for domestic projects with more than one student (collaborative); the maximum award is $1,500. Each student who has a proposal funded will receive an honorarium/stipend. For proposals with single student investigators, the honorarium is $600 for that student. For proposals with multiple student investigators, the maximum honorarium is $950 per project, and students should explain how this amount is to be distributed (on the Budget Summary page). The remainder of the funds requested should be used for supplies, travel, and other expenses required for execution of the research project. Funding for presentation of the proposed research will NOT be funded.

International projects : A maximum of $2,100 for each project may be requested.
