UW-L has a large format digital printer
for student** presentation posters. It will cost approximately
$45 to have a 3' X 5' poster printed. Currently, the best system is to design the poster as a
Microsoft Publisher file. The process is described below.
POSTER FILES MUST BE SUBMITTED AT LEAST ONE BUSINESS
WEEK IN ADVANCE OF THE DATE NEEDED.
THIS CAN BE DONE VIA EMAIL, IF THE FILE SIZE IS LESS THAN 5MB,
OR ON CD-ROM
OR FLASH DRIVE FOR LARGER FILES.

DESIGNING YOUR
POSTER USING MICROSOFT OFFICE PUBLISHER
SOFTWARE
This is for Office Publisher 2000-2003.
- Open a "new" document under blank publications.
- Pick full page.
- Pick page "set-up"
- Click on "landscape"
- Click on "special size"
- Click on "custom banner"
- Choose W = 60” and H = 36” (for a 3' X 5' poster)
- Proceed using text boxes for a title and two or
more columns. You can also insert tables. Tables cannot be inserted into a text box – they need to be separate.
- You should be able to import SPSS output files into this format.
- Consider ~ 66 point font for the title and a text size of ~ 36
point. This is just a guide.
- You can change the background color of any table or text box by right clicking and choosing “change frame” and pick out "fill color." The table can be changed by picking table first or by highlighting specific cells.

College of Science and Health students should continue to use the SAH poster printer. SAH students should contact Steve Harris, Physics Department, at 785-8428 or Cowley Hall 2012 for information on using the SAH poster printer.
