| POSITION DESCRIPTION |
Description/Primary Responsibilities: The Physical Therapy Program (http://www.uwlax.edu/pt/program-info.htm) is expanding its faculty and invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track/ clinical track faculty position in UW-L’s well established DPT program. The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking educator who is a licensed PT, holds an advanced degree; (post-professional Doctorate preferred) and has the ability to teach physical therapy students and perform scholarship. Candidates who hold an ABPTS clinical specialization and/or post professional doctoral degree are encouraged to apply. We are seeking additional expertise in clinical education, neurological rehabilitation, pediatrics, geriatrics, or acute care. Candidates with other areas of expertise will be considered. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in their specialty area, perform independent research, and integrate teaching, research and practice into a student-centered curriculum. The Physical Therapy faculty consists of 10 dynamic, full time core faculty who are complemented by local and regional professionals. The Doctor of Physical Therapy is a consortial degree offered in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The resources of both faculty cohorts contribute to the UW-L PT Program’s reputation of excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice. The Physical Therapy Program is integrated within the Department of Health Professions and College of Science and Health. The program is taught in the state of the art Health Science Center (HSC) noted for its established biomechanics, human performance and anatomy laboratories. The PT Program capitalizes on its unique consortial relationships with LaCrosse Institute of Movement Science (LIMS), the Gundersen Lutheran Sports Medicine Residency Program and the LaCrosse Medical Health Science Consortium to create a dynamic environment for academic and clinical professionals wishing to collaborate on research initiatives and the advancement of clinical practice. UW-La Crosse has been consistently ranked among the best universities in the Midwest in the U.S.News & World Report's America's Best Colleges publication. UW-L is ranked No. 3 in the Midwest among comprehensive public universities. It is reputed within the UW System for its strong health science and professional education programs. La Crosse (area pop. 64,000) is set among scenic bluffs along the winding Mississippi River on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. Outdoor enthusiasts will find a myriad of activities to engage in during all seasons. Located approximately 2 ½ hours from both Minneapolis and Madison, La Crosse is also home to two universities, a technical college, two exceptional medical centers and a nationally recognized K-12 educational system.
