POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The Mathematics Department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position, beginning August 25, 2008, and contingent upon availability of funding.  The department seeks foremost engaging teachers and scholars who can inspire and mentor undergraduate students with varying career goals.  While applications from all areas of the mathematical sciences are encouraged, the department is particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals working in the areas of analysis, applied mathematics, combinatorics, graph theory, mathematics education, or probability/mathematical statistics. 

 

Description/Primary Responsibilities:  Responsibilities: Teach both introductory and advanced courses (three classes, averaging 12 hours per semester, with two preparations); maintain a productive program of research in the mathematical sciences; contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities. 

 

Qualifications (minimum and desirable):  Doctorate in the mathematical sciences  (by August 28, 2008); evidence of successful college/university teaching; experience or interest in directing students on undergraduate research/independent study projects is desirable.
