POSITION DESCRIPTION  

Position Description  This position is responsible for the administration of all aspects of the Student Affairs Administration graduate program which includes both on-campus and on-line program delivery models.  A one-course per term teaching load is also required.

 

Major duties with percent of time 

75%    Administration and Leadership of Student Affairs Administration graduate program 

·         Provide visionary leadership for an evolving graduate program

·         Create positive working relationships with program students, faculty and external constituents

·         Manage all aspects of the program including marketing, recruitment, admissions, budget preparation and management, networking with alumni, and service to the department of Psychology and the University of WI-La Crosse

·         Coordinate the development and design of the curricula in accordance with the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) and submit program review and assessment reports as per university guidelines

·         Collaborate with the department of Psychology chair, the Dean of the College of Liberal Studies, the Assistant Chancellor of Student Development and Academic Services, the Director of Enrollment Services, and personnel from Human Resources and the Business Office to coordinate all personnel issues, including supervision of faculty, hiring of staff, and any other issues related to personnel contracts, compensation or performance

·         Facilitate regular faculty meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and establish excellent avenues of communication with program and departmental faculty, students and the university community

·         Supervise the work of the program assistant, graduate assistant and other support staff

·         Serve as primary support person to students in the program from admission to successful program completion

·         Serve as the webmaster for the program and consult with on and off campus technology units to support both a web presence and to support the further development of on-line program delivery opportunities

 

25%   Instruction in Student Affairs Administration graduate program (1 course per term)

·         Prepare and deliver curriculum to graduate students in the program

·         Prepare course materials including syllabi, handouts, electronic instructional aids, insuring that the materials comply with the guidelines for accessibility

·         Use D2L and other software that is associated with instruction via the internet

·         Evaluate student work using systems developed by the faculty in the student Affairs and Administration graduate program

·         Maintain office hours and serve as an advisor, thesis chair, and member of theses committees

·         Participate in the service mission of the University

·         Participate in professional development activities

·         Pursue scholarship within the parameters of commitments to administrative and teaching responsibilities

 

 

Qualifications for Student Affairs Administration Graduate Program Director 

Minimum Required

  • Doctorate in discipline compatible with student affairs profession (includes but not limited to higher education administration and/or leadership, counselor education, human development, psychology, college student personnel/development)

  • Experience in higher education academic program administration

  • Experience teaching both face-to-face and on-line courses (higher education level)

  • Experience supervising graduate student research or capstone experiences

  • Commitment to graduate instruction of students preparing for careers in student affairs

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience/expertise in technology that supports student learning and administration of academic programs

 

Preference given to

  • Candidates who are active members of higher education student affairs professional organizations

 


 
APPOINTMENT  

% of appointment – Full Time Annual Appointment

 

Starting Date:  July 1, 2008

 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
