Best UW-L story:
One night when I was leaving Whitney, there was a woman stuck in the snow on the hill. There were two other adults trying to figure out what to do to help, but so far had not been successful. When I saw it, I was dumbfounded. I didn't know how to help. A boy walked out of Whitney behind me and immediately ran back up the ramp. I quickly followed and told him that I didn't know what to do. He responded by "Well we have to do something." He ran back out into the snow with a chair to help the woman onto while he helped to pull it out of the snow. This was just an example of an act of kindness performed by a stranger that had no real motive to go out of his way to help besides the drive to get this woman to safety. It really warmed my heart, and that's the kind of people you'll meet at La Crosse. (I doubt you'll want to use that story because it's a little weird, but it is the story that really stood out to me)
Advice to freshmen:
Coming to college is a GREAT time to find yourself. You are becoming an adult! It’s a place to start over! But, don’t lose track of who you have always been . That you is pretty cool, too, and it’s a lot easier to be the already cool you than to try to find a different you.
What surprised you the most about UW-L during your Freshmen year?
It’s an active campus, as most people know. Also as most people know, I am not very active. When I got to campus, I thought I was just gonna be known as a lazy person and feel bad about myself. NOPE! I have never felt out of place, and I have actually become much more inspired to be active and to try things like intramurals and running (still not a fan... but we’re getting there) by being on campus. What a wonderful surprise!
Weirdest thing about you?
Uh, I’m not gonna go there. We just met. However, I will say that I love sauerkraut and I could easily eat just a big ol’ plate of it for a meal and would be perfectly content.
If you could be one household item, what would you be and why?
A mirror. Think of all the funny faces you’d see people make when they’re posing.
Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others?
Pose and make faces in front of the mirror. I’d die if anyone saw the stupid faces I make.
Name one thing you miss about being a kid?
It was socially acceptable to sit at my piano and play naked.
What is your favorite song at this moment?
I’ve honestly not admitted this to anyone, but it’s A Little More Love by Olivia Newton John. She’s got the voice of an angel.
Do you have any hidden talents or skills?
I can do that four-leafed clover thing with my tongue, which in all actuality is neither a talent nor a skill. Let's be open-minded!
