Federal Tuition Assistance

To receive Military Tuition Assistance (TA) you must go through the individual branch website to complete an application. The link to each individual branch TA website is provided below under Military Tuition Assistance Through Service Branches. Please contact the education center on the military installation for further help. An education service officer or counselor at the military installation education center must approve your TA before you enroll in a course. Courses for Tuition Assistance must be fully approved prior to the class start date. 

ArmyIgnitED is the virtual gateway for all eligible Active Duty, National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers to request Tuition Assistance (TA) online, anytime, anywhere for classroom and distance learning. The Army transitioned to a new TA platform in Fall 2022. It allows Soldiers to manage their education records including college classes, testing, on-duty classes and Army Education Counselor support.  Soldiers can reach out to their military unit for eligibility and supporting information.

ArmyIgnitED is also the virtual gateway for Army Civilians to apply for their Civilian education, training, and leader development events.  

Army Federal Tuition Assistance provides up to $250 per credit, with a maximum of $4000 per academic year, in TA funding.

Air Force Tuition Assistance (TA) is an important quality of life program that provides up to $250 per credit hour for tuition for courses taken by active duty personnel. The program is one of the most frequent reasons given for enlisting and re-enlisting in the Air Force.

If you are planning to use a Veteran Benefit you can get a Shopping Sheet that will give you an estimate of aid you may receive if you attend UW-La Crosse. This is only an estimate and only for those using VA benefits. You will need to fill out the FAFSA, an application for free financial aid, in order to get a true FAFSA award.
