LGBTQ Studies

A certificate in LGBTQ Studies at UW-L?  We think we can do it!  Tentative date would be Fall, 2010.

UW-L defines a "certificate" as 15 credits.

See our course descriptions page for courses with LGBTQ focus or LGBTQ content.

Resources

Looking for resources for class projects or self-education?  See the LGBTQ Research Guide on the UW System's Women's Studies Librarian's office's website.  Note that this incredible guide is System-wide, so remember to read through the instructions to databases for particular campuses.  AWESOME!  Thanks to Phyllis Holman Weisbard, the UW-System Women's Studies Librarian, for creating this resource.

Encourage your professor to develop a course!  Course criteria are in our bylaws, linked in the green bar under Faculty Area.

Scholarships?  Yes!

Scholarships specifically for LGBTQ students DO exist, and we know where they are (because we have friends who find out and then tell us!).  See our Scholarships page for more information.

UW-System's Inclusivity Initiative

The Inclusivity Initiative is the UW-System's home for LGBTQ issues, scholarship, and curricular development across the state system.  Among their projects are policy advocacy (including curricular, domestic partner benefits, campus climate, among others), maintaining a list of LGBTQ scholars in the System, and an annual conference, held simultaneously with the State Women's Studies Consortium annual conference.  The Inclusivity Initiative is working on LGBTQ-friendly study abroad programs, and links to all the LGBTQ courses in the state.  See their website here.
