LGBTQ Studies

A certificate in LGBTQ Studies at UW-L?  We think we can do it!  Tentative date would be Fall, 2009, right after the new major.  Note, though, that a major must take a MUCH longer path than a certificate:  the former has to go through steps beyond UW-L;  the latter is entirely a UW-L decision.  So we could have the certificate actually up and running before the major.

UW-L defines a "certificate" as 15 credits.

See our course descriptions page for courses with LGBTQ focus or LGBTQ content.

Scholarships?  Yes!

Scholarships specifically for LGBTQ students DO exist, and we know where they are (because we have friends who find out and then tell us!).  See our Scholarships page for more information.

UW-System's Inclusivity Initiative

The Inclusivity Initiative is the UW-System's home for LGBTQ issues, scholarship, and curricular development across the state system.  Among their projects are policy advocacy (including curricular, domestic partner benefits, campus climate, among others), maintaining a list of LGBTQ scholars in the System, and an annual conference, held simultaneously with the State Women's Studies Consortium annual conference.  The Inclusivity Initiative is working on LGBTQ-friendly study abroad programs, and links to all the LGBTQ courses in the state.  See their website here.
