WSSA: A Member of the National Organization for Women (NOW)
Say It! WSSA is pronounced "Wiss-sa!"
Ann George, an Art major and Women's Studies minor in the early 1980s, designed the Women's Studies logo you see above.
Our Mission:
The mission of the Women's Studies Student Association (WSSA) is to provide students, as well as the La Crosse community, advocacy for women's issues. WSSA involves the community by also being a member of NOW (National Organization of Women). WSSA initiates activities for UW-L students and the La Crosse community in the area of Women's Studies.
Meetings:
WSSA meets on Thursdays at 7:00 pm in the Diversity Center, in the basement of Cartwright Center. We often have food, too, so just show up!
Membership:
La Crosse community members and all members of the UW-L learning community are invited to join the Women's Studies Student Association at any time.
Campus and Community Outreach:
WSSA is involved with a number of campus events including Week Without Violence, which includes the Candlelight Vigil and the Clothesline Project; Take Back the Night Rally; Women's History Month; and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
WSSA also assists other campus groups in activities related to women's issues
