Peer advisors

Purpose of a peer advisor:

In partnership with the Academic Advising Center and Career Services, peer advisors will assist their campus peers by being easily available to provide quality resource information related to academics, career development, and UWL in a positive, open environment

Responsibilities of a Peer Advisor:

  • Provide peer-to-peer academic and career advising
  • Assist peers with initial major/career exploration
  • Help peers utilize functions within WINGS (Advisement Report, Schedule Planner, etc.)
  • Help students Handshake for internship/job exploration
  • Explain academic policies and procedures (Change of program, drop/add, important dates)
  • Provide resume reviews, LinkedIn critiques, and interview tips
  • Assist with AAC & CS sponsored events and presentations (group advising, career fairs, etc.)
  • Provide referrals to appropriate campus offices (Counseling & Testing, Student Life, ACCESS, Financial Aid, etc.)
  • Complete other office projects as assigned.
