Students and Diversity

Page last updated on 08/19/2014 includes a section on students and student issues.

Holly Hassel and Joanne Giordano of UW-Marathon County presented an OPID funded conference this past June called Reaching-At-Risk Students. Their website offers information on the conference and will also serve as an ongoing resource for faculty and staff across the state of Wisconsin who work with students who are at-risk of not succeeding academically. Please check it out at

UW-L supports a good number of student organizations that reflect human diversity and student activism.  Check here for the full list of student organizations at UW-L (click on the arrow).

Not all student orgs maintain a website, but some do.  UW-L's MyOrgs is probably the best overall informational site.  The Undergraduate catalog has a list too:

Asian, Latina, African, Native American Women (ALANA)

Asian Student Organization (ASO)

Hmong Organization Promoting Education (HOPE)

International Student Organization (ISO)

KOSMOS (Korean Student Organization)

Latin American Student Organization (LASO)

Men United Against Sexual Assault (MUASA)

Native American Student Association (NASA)

Rainbow Unity

Social Action Theatre

Students Advocating Potential Ability (SAPA)

Women's Studies Student Association (WSSA)
