STUDENTS:

Join us on January 14th with fellow Menard Family centers, economic development centers, and network directors for a day of economic-focused discussion and workshops. Here is a list of confirmed speakers and centers:

  • Free Enterprise Center at Concordia University- Housing the Batterman School of Business, the center combines student and community-led startups and healthcare disciplines to fuse the gap between business and healthcare learning.
  • Wisconsin Law and Liberty- We litigate, educate, and participate in public discourse. Our case categories include Free Speech, Workers’ Freedom, Open Government, Good Government, and Other Individual Rights.
  • Stand Together- We identify, vet, and create organizations that discover innovative ways to remove barriers in education, business, communities, and government so every person can rise.
  • Meractus Center- Advances knowledge about how markets work to improve people’s lives by training graduate students, conducting research, and applying economics to offer solutions to society’s most pressing problems.

Speakers and Center Directors:

Please join us, on-campus, for the Wisconsin Liberty Consortium! A weekend focus of economic topics and discussion. On Friday, students will attend speaker and workshop sessions hosted by La Crosse and other speakers/directors. Friday night, you're invited to a dinner at Piggy's Restaurant in downtown La Crosse, paid for by courtesy of the Menard Family Initiative.

Open Forum- Saturday, January 15th:

Business representatives, economic center representatives, university economic center directors, faculty, and think tanks will come together to discuss the important issues surrounding public policy from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, January 15th. As an open forum for a variety of businesses and backgrounds, we hope to group individuals and representatives based on the topics they wish to discuss. The attendees for this event will receive a parking code for free parking in the ramp, on campus. This event has limited space so please RSVP here or e-mail us for more information!

  • 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM- Open Forum: Speakers, Center Directors, Think Tanks, business/organization representative, etc.: Open Forum discussion on Public Policy
  • 12:30 PM- Catered lunch and final speaker: Director of the UW-L MFI program, Dr. Adam Hoffer
  • 1:30 PM- Wrap-up

 

Additional Spring 2022 Events

  • January Immigration Series- a series of videos and information about immigration, relevant to the current Afghan guests in Western Wisconsin. A link will be coming, soon!
  • Rachel Ferguson will be coming to campus in February 8, 2022 from 5-6 PM, to talk about her new book, Black Liberation Through the Marketplace. More details coming, soon!
  • Roosevelt Montas will be coming to campus on March 23, 2022, to talk about his book, Rescuing Socrates- How the Great Books Changed My Life and Why They Matter for A New Generation
  • Magette Wade will be coming to campus in April, 2022, to talk about entrepreneurship and her experience in the free markets within Africa. 
  • Midwest Economic Association conference will be held in Minneapolis, MN on March 25-27, 2022. This trip is covered, 100% by the MFI. Interested students can check out their website, or contact us to learn more information!
