VISA Invitation Letter request

If you need an invitation letter, indicate this on the application or email Milandrie Wakim at mwakim@uwlax.edu with your request. Because of the number of requests received for visa support letters, please submit your request as soon as possible and no later than June 23, 2018.

  • All successfully completed applications received by April 11, 2018 will receive visa letters by April 20, 2018.
  • All successfully completed applications received after April 11 before May 4, 2018 will receive visa letters by May 25, 2018.
  • All successfully completed applications received after May 4, 2018 before June 1, 2018 will receive visa letters by June 15, 2018.

You will need a visa to enter the U.S. Because of world events, visa applications are subject to a greater degree of scrutiny than in the past. The greater scrutiny means a longer waiting period. The State Department recommends that you begin your visa application process well in advance of your travel dates. Applicants are advised to apply no later than 3 months prior to the summer academy.

Visa requirements vary from country to country. Contact the U.S. embassy or consulate in the country where you live to determine if you will need a visa and/or a visa support letter to visit the U.S. (You may apply for a visa at any U.S. consular office, but it may be more difficult to qualify if you apply from outside your country of permanent residence.) Locate a consular office: www.usembassy.gov

The decision to grant visas belongs solely to the embassy/consulate. The University of Wisconsin La Crosse cannot promise that you will receive a visa. Likewise, the University of Wisconsin La Crosse cannot change the decision of the governmental agency should your application be denied.

Passport: Submit a copy of your passport page which contains your photo, name, country of origin, birth date, etc.

Required documents: The required documents below must be completed and submitted along with the applicant’s final payment due on June 1, 2018.

Refund policy:

UW-La Crosse is committed to keeping its summer academies affordable for students from many different countries. Therefore, we follow these refund policies strictly:

  • If UW-La Crosse is notified in writing by June 23, 2018 that a student is withdrawing from the academy, UW-La Crosse will refund the academy fee minus a US $500 processing fee.
  • No refunds will be made after June 23, 2018.
  • UW-La Crosse reserves the right to cancel the academy at any time. If UW-La Crosse cancels the academy, all participants will receive a full refund of application fees.

Please send any cancellations to Milandrie Wakim at mwakim@uwlax.edu.
