Summer Academy

Experience U.S. life on a college campus while advancing your academic English skills!

An on-campus residential program designed to prepare international students through cultural experiences and interactions on how to master the use of English language as expected by instructors in the U.S. classroom environment that requires: class participation and discussions, homework and group assignments, presentations, research and essay writing.

To make the most of your experience at UW-La Crosse, please bring the following items with you. You will be busy at camp and won’t always have time to shop for these essentials!

The weather should be between 18–32 degrees Celsius.

Remember:

  • Airline ticket, passport, and visa
  • Spending money

Clothing:

  • Shorts/long pants
  • Shirts (long and short sleeve)
  • Swimming suit
  • Athletic shoes (tennis shoes)
  • Pajamas
  • Underwear, socks
  • Rain coat, umbrella
  • One nice outfit
  • Light jacket or sweatshirt

Personal items:

  • Brush/comb
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, body wash or soap, shampoo and conditioner
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Feminine hygiene products

Miscellaneous items:

  • Bag or backpack
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Extra towel (optional)
  • 1 washcloth
  • Shower sandals
  • Laundry bag
  • Laundry detergent
  • Phone charger
  • Electric current adaptor
  • English dictionary or electronic translators
  • Pens or pencils, notebooks
  • Camera
  • Laptop computer or tablet (optional, but recommended)
