ENG 500, section 700 | Teaching College Writing
3 graduate credits

This 3 credit graduate level course is designed to familiarize students with the major approaches and theoretical underpinnings relevant to the teaching of first-year writing at the college level. Over the course of the semester we will survey some of the more prominent topics in composition pedagogy and will consider both theoretical matters (the “why”) and practical applications (the “how”) for the teaching of writing, including teaching the transition from high school to college writing. This course is also a prerequisite for those who wish to teach the dual credit ENG 100 course.

Days and times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
This is a hybrid course.
Weeks 1 and 4, class will meet face-to-face, 2214 Centennial Hall, UWL
Weeks 2–3, class will be online.

ENG 500 is based on full campus tuition. Credit course tuition will be charged to your student account after you are enrolled. You must apply to UW-La Crosse for admission and submit your credit course registration no later than Monday, June 19, 2017.
