UWL Continuing Education and Extension is pleased to announce a new partnership with GEEO (Global Exploration for Educators) to provide outstanding professional development opportunities for educators. GEEO is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and assisting as many teachers as possible to travel abroad and then share their experiences with their students upon their return to the classroom.

Teachers in this course will develop an understanding of the country/ies and region they are visiting including history, environment, culture, current affairs and educational system. Participants will learn ways in which they may share their travel experiences and knowledge with their students across curricular and grade levels. This course will help participants develop a deeper appreciation of the educational possibilities travel can provide to both teachers and students.

"I will talk about these trips all year in my classes. For so many of my students, my description of my travels will be the only exposure they will have to other countries and other ways of life."
- Social studies teacher Michael Baldwin, whose first time traveling abroad was with GEEO
