Healthy Living: The Benefits of a Good Night's Sleep

Join us for a half-day workshop that will help you to understand the role sleep plays in our health, learning, economy and culture. You will learn what sleep is and examine its evolution, changes in sleep across the life span, myths associated with sleep and the impacts on a sleep deprived nation. You will examine your own sleep patterns and behaviors and review resources to help improve sleep.

After completing this workshop, you will be able to: 

  • Discuss the role of sleep in preventing health-related problems/issues
  • Explain sleep length and quality
  • Identify what impacts one’s ability to sleep
  • Describe sleep changes over the life cycle
  • Understand cultural impacts on sleep
  • Explain the myths surrounding sleep
  • Assess your own sleep behavior
  • Demonstrate methods to improve sleep
