Get your college or job applications noticed

Join us for Leveling Up Your Personal Brand a two day writing workshop that will help high school students to differentiate themselves and achieve their future goals.

  • Inventory and track your skills, experiences, and qualifications
  • Understand and interpret job ads
  • Align your skills and experiences with job ad qualifications and the employer’s values
  • Learn about writing resumes and cover letters, including understanding
    audience, purpose, context, content, and format/design
  • Learn how to write concise and informative bullet points for resumes


Who Should Attend:

These active learning workshops are for high school students who are interested in tracking their experiences to apply for college, scholarships, apprenticeships, and jobs.

High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to use this workshop as part of their future career planning. Freshman and sophomores who are interested in getting a head start on career and college planning are also encouraged to register.

Thursday, July 28 | 12:45–4 p.m.

Day 1: Personal Branding

Learn strategies for identifying your unique skills, communicating those skills to employers and other audiences, and aligning skills with the complex language of job ads.

  • What is a personal brand?
  • Complete a personal brand inventory
  • Interpret job advertisements and aligning skills and strengths with the required qualifications and values of the employer

Friday, July 29 | 12:45–4 p.m.

Day 2: Writing Job Documents 

Learn how to attract interest with your resume and cover letter. You will practice writing concise and bullet points highlighting your skills, accomplishments, and qualifications.

  • Writing strategies for job documents
  • Understanding employment advertisements and postings
  • Constructing a concise resume
  • Authoring an engaging cover letter
