The annual conference of the West Lakes Division of the American Association of Geographers (WLDAAG) will bring together students, professors, instructors, and professionals from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to share advances in research, teaching, and applications across a diverse range of geographic themes, highlighting the urgent interconnections among physical and human geographies.
The Department of Geography and Earth Science at University of Wisconsin La Crosse, founded in 1909, provides geography majors, minors, and general education students with a broad ranges of skills and experiences in the physical and human geographies, including undergraduate research. With strong links to interdisciplinary programs and study abroad opportunities, research and teaching specialties include river studies, GIS and web mapping, and environmental outreach programs.
La Crosse, Wisconsin is a historic city of 52,000 on the Mississippi River, midway between Minneapolis and Madison. Its airport has multiple daily flights to Minneapolis and Chicago. Home to two universities, a college, excellent cuisine, and a year-round calendar of festivals, La Crosse is tucked within the rolling landscapes of the Driftless Region.

Geography Bowl
The Geography Bowl event will take place on Thursday, November 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Any student registered for the conference who is interested in participating should contact Reuben Allen at rjallen@bsu.edu. Each of the six winning students will receive $250 toward their costs for attending the national AAG meeting in April 2019.
