**The Master of Science in School Health Education Program is currently not accepting new students.**

We are currently revising our program to be offered as a hybrid degree program. This will include Fall and Spring on-line courses, as well as two week sessions of face-to-face trainings during two consecutive summers (one week each summer).

For students looking to enroll sooner, their program is built around needs for becoming an effective school health educator. As mentioned in our introductory page, courses within the School of Health Education program are geared to support the following standards:

Professional Standards for Health Education Teacher Preparation – these standards align with the Areas of Responsibilities for Entry-Level Health Education and include:

Area I: Assessing Needs, Assets and Capacity for Health Education 
Area II: Planning Health Education 
Area III: Implementing Health Education 
Area IV: Conducting Evaluation and Research Related to Health Education 
Area V: Administering and Managing Health Education 
Area VI: Serving as a Health Education Resource Person 
Area VII: Communicating and Advocating for Health and Health Education

National Health Education Standards (K-12 Educational Standards)

EdTPA – Teacher candidate support assessment program, which aligns with InTASC and NCATE/CAEP Standards.

Specific Health Education topics include: Mental and Emotional Health, Violence Prevention, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Human Sexuality, and Nutrition and Physical Activity. Content for these, as well as other current health topics, are infused into curriculum development courses.
