OLDHealthcare experience

The UWL - Gundersen - Mayo - Marshfield PA Program strongly recommends our applicants have healthcare experience, in particular experience involving direct, face-to-face patient care. Although we do not require a specific number of hours, previous admitted applicants averaged greater than 1000 hours of direct patient care experience. Some examples of competitive patient care experience include: nurse, emergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, radiology technician, respiratory therapist, physical therapy aide, patient care technician, athletic trainer, phlebotomist, certified medical assistant, laboratory/medical technician, certified nursing assistant (CNA), and mental health worker.

UWL Alumnus Jacob Wudtke earned his undergraduate degree in Radiation Therapy and continued years later to pursue a graduate degree in Medical Dosimetry from UWL. Wudtke, now a medical dosimetrist, works at UW-Health in Madison.
