Requirements

A page within Neuroscience

As there is still room in the minor, applications are currently accepted at any time, and students are encouraged to apply as soon as they meet the pre-requisites (e.g., have posted grades for the pre-req courses and minimum GPA). Applications will be reviewed by the Neuroscience Advisory Committee after receiving the student application and faculty reference. Students may only reapply once if not accepted into the minor. Students must be admitted to the minor in order to declare the minor.

Retention: Students must earn a "C" or better in NEU 200 for continuation in the minor. Students must also earn grades of "C" or better in all courses in the minor, including electives, to complete the minor.

Admission/Retention Requirements

  1. Minimum 30 earned credits (including transfer credit). At least 15 of these credits must be earned at UWL. Students with more than 60 earned credits may not be eligible to apply for admission if we reach our cap, but should strongly consider applying in case there are spaces available. The credit guidelines are in place to make sure that the minor can be completed in a timely manner.
  2. Completion of pre-requisites in table below with grades of "C" or better. Note: BIO 105 and PSY 100 are prerequisite courses for NEU 200. CHM 103 is a pre-req for BIO 465, but students can apply for the minor with the biology and psychology prerequisites completed.
  3. Submit an unofficial transcript.
  4. Submit one reference from a UWL faculty member (or previous institution for transfer students).
  5. Minimum 3.0 combined cumulative GPA. Combined cumulative GPAs include transfer grade points averaged in with grade points earned at UWL.
  6. Additional academic and non-academic factors may be taken into consideration.
