Brief biography

Dr. Benfield practiced in the clinic for over 23 years, mostly in pediatric practice. She developed the model of evidence-informed professional thinking (EIPT) and developed the measure of EIPT. Research and publishing

Dr. Benfield is interested in the development of expertise and the use of clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to support clinical decision-making. Her model of EIPT integrated clinical reasoning, measuring outcomes, and evidence-based practice.

Her current research is related to how therapist's habits of mind and habits of EBP/measuring outcomes influence daily practice. She continues to work on further development of the measure of EIPT and improving its clinical interpretation of person scores, allowing one to use it as a professional development tool.
