REC Membership Information
Students who are enrolled in the current semester do not need to purchase a membership to use the REC if enrolled for current term and paying the student fee for the REC.
Student memberships to the REC are included in your student fees and are based on term(s) of enrollment. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 1 (one) credit to gain access (exception: summer and winter session).
Students who are not enrolled in the fall or spring semester are ineligible to purchase a semester membership. Daily guest passes can be purchased for $8 and require a current UWL student sponsor.
Students not enrolled in summer or winter session are eligible to purchase a short-term membership if enrolled in the semester just prior to or immediately following that term. Daily guest passes can be purchased for $4.
Former students who do not meet these eligibility requirements must pay an $8 guest fee and be accompanied throughout the visit by a current UWL student sponsor.
The Rec Sports Department extends membership privileges for a fee to the spouse/partner of current students, faculty, staff, retiree and emeriti, UWL affiliate must possess an active recreation membership before a spouse/partner is permitted to purchase a membership.
Verification of eligibility:
- UWL faculty, staff, retiree and emeriti: official University identification card
- Spouse/domestic partner: marriage certificate or domestic partner affidavit presented at time of purchase

Yes, students attending college at a different institution can use the REC according to the following requirements:
- Fall or spring semester: purchase $5 daily guest pass and be sponsored by current UWL student throughout visit; institutional ID required
- Summer or winter session: purchase membership plus $5 card fee; institutional ID and proof of enrollment in the semester just prior to or immediately following the term required

Students who are enrolled in summer school or winter session pay a segregated fee. Therefore, in fairness to all, it was determined that students not enrolled in these sessions should pay a comparable amount to use the REC (approved by the UWL Student Association, Spring 2014).

The fee is based on the operational costs of the REC.
Yes, the Outdoor Connection has special rental and trip rates for currently enrolled students and REC members. Non-members will pay higher rates.
Yes for $4 if you were enrolled for the semester just prior to or immediately following summer/winter session. Current UWL ID is required.
