SSS Leadership Council

The Student Support Services (SSS) Leadership Council is open to all students participating in the UW-La Crosse Student Support Services Program who are interested in using their leadership ability to advance the SSS program. Membership consists of 8 student members of Student Support Services. These members will apply yearly to serve on the council.

The purpose of the SSS Leadership Council is to provide opportunities for meaningful, responsible student input and feedback on Student Support Services offerings (tutoring, workshops, advising, social events, etc.) and to promote understanding between students and SSS professional staff. The Council also provides opportunities for mentoring, student leadership activities and leadership training.

Expectation of Council Leaders:

  • Meetings - 2x a month (coordinated with council members' schedules)
  • Coordinate 1 workshop per semester (Council members can collaborate)
  • Participate in leadership training specific to the Leadership Council

 Tentative priorities:

  • Welcoming/Integrating First-Year Students - Fall
  • SSS Senior Showcase - Spring
  • TRIO Advocacy - at various times throughout the year
  • Service Work - National TRIO Day of Service

Favorite thing about being part of SSS: The community! This is definitely my second home on campus! Everyone is so nice to each other and cares! We are all willing to help each other.

Favorite thing about being part of SSS: Having an opportunity to collaborate with an unique community of students and staff who are driven to accomplish their goals.

Fun Facts: I was a carhop at Rudy's, which means I got to roller-skate at my job everyday! I'm madly in love with ice cream, like... I have a fetish with it.
Favorite thing about being part of SSS: I love the atmosphere. The students are studious and kind, and the staff is so helpful and generous.

Fun Facts: I love the Pittsburgh Penguins, and I was named after the actress in the movie Cocktail
Favorite thing about being part of SSS: The fun, helpful, and supportive people I have met in such a short amount of time, as well as the number of services SSS provides to a student.

Student Support Services (SSS) Leadership Council Membership: 

If you are looking for a way to build leadership skills, mentor peers and work as a team with fellow Students Support Services students and professional staff, consider applying to be a member of the SSS Leadership Council.

Members of the SSS Leadership Council plan and develop activities that help to enhance the program and increase student involvement. Members also mentor first year students in the SSS program.

The SSS Leadership council is open to all students participating in the UW-La Crosse Student Support Services program. Students who are interested in using their leadership gifts and talents to advance the SSS program are encouraged to apply. 

Membership consists of 8 student members and the Leadership Council Advisor.

Council Members must:

  • Be a full-time student
  • Have a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
