University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Student Senate
Rainbow Unity Senator

Rob Waara

Serving as Student Senator for Rainbow Unity, Robert Waara is a third year student originally from Rochester, Minnesota. He is a double major in Community Health Education and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies and is also in the Pre-Physician Assistant Program. He hopes to graduate in the spring of 2016.

Originally drawn in by the outstanding Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant graduate programs, Rob was immediately set on attending UW-L after taking a tour around campus; as he would explain it, "Everything was just so beautiful, and I couldn't wait to hike the bluffs as soon as I saw them. From the moment I was on campus, I knew I wanted to live here." Having been a part of many different campus orgs over the past two years including everything from ALANA to Men's Rugby, Rob is currently actively involved with Rainbow Unity and Student Association, and he is a current member of Trans*form, WSSA, Eta Sigma Gamma and the Campus Climate Work Taskforce. He also can be found working at Cartwright Center or Gundersen Medical Center.

Rob is member of Student Association for many reasons, but above and beyond it is to help advocate for inclusion and awareness of people of all identities. A strong believer in compassion and empathy, Rob wishes to serve as a person anyone on campus can safe talking to about issues they're having, either personally or as a Student Senator. With a deep passion for activism and education, he hopes to help create a campus environment where all individuals can feel safe and happy to call home.
