COVID-19 Update

On behalf of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, as well as the UWL Foundation and UWL Alumni Association, we hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy during this worldwide health crisis. Please know we are thinking of you.

The University has responded swiftly and appropriately to the threats that we face today and expect to face in the immediate future. You can learn more about the steps we are all taking through the link provided above in the yellow banner. With multiple active cases in La Crosse County, we are taking it very seriously to attempt to protect the entire UWL family.

As a result, we have had to make several changes to our operations, including allowing our team to work remotely. We will process gifts, memberships and all requests as soon as we are able. We are connected electronically so please feel free to email anyone that you need to reach. We also receive our phone messages in our email system so please leave a message if you do call.

While we won't have the opportunity to see you in person in the coming weeks, we hope you'll remain in touch with us and that you'll stay engaged with UWL through our social media and other platforms. UWL alums Jerrilyn (Jerri) and Bruce Brewer are retired educators from Western Technical College and the Bangor School District, respectively. Their gift to the UWL Foundation supports their value of education. Bruce earned a Bachelor of Science in 1978 and a Master of Education in Professional Development in 1990. Jerrilyn earned a Bachelor of Education in 1970 and a Master of Science in Reading in 1986 and a Doctorate in Education in 1995.

Mary Hamman, an associate professor in the UW-La Crosse Economics Department, has been named the first UWL College of Business Administration Swenson Baier Engaged Faculty Fellow. The fellowship, funded by 1985 CBA graduate Scott Swenson and his spouse, Cynthia Baier, is UWL’s first philanthropically-funded faculty fellowship supporting the vision and recognition of business faculty who are industry-engaged.

Mattie Mae Krause, a biomedical major on the pre-med track, has received the inaugural scholarship from the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership. Krause was named Miss La Crosse Oktoberfest in 2016 and has been active in numerous campus and community organizations.
