Privacy statement
To help us assess content usage and navigation patterns on the university home page and related top-level pages, University Marketing & Communications and the Division of Information Technology Services collect and analyze overall web server data.
- Individual names or usernames are not collected.
- Host names and/or IP addresses are collected and only associated with individual users where required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal requirements or with legal process served on us, to protect and defend our rights or property, or in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of any individual.
- The data that is collected may be used to generate aggregate statistical reports.
Google Analytics and social media
University Marketing & Communications may also use Google Analytics and social media analytics to collect generalized data and to analyze overall usage of the site. Google Analytics and some social media platforms use cookies in your Web browsing software to track user sessions so that it can collect data about how users view and navigate the site. The data collected never includes names, usernames or full email addresses. You may prevent Google Analytics and other sites from collecting data by turning off cookies in the preferences settings in your browser.
Mobile Location Information: UWL does not collect location information. However, users consent to allow access to geo location on devices that collect and store information (device ID’s) related to your mobile device location over time to help provide a better experience with our advertising, analytics, and measurement efforts. Some functional use of location targeting may be dependent on the data related to geolocation information (such as when you post a tweet from or about a location). If the settings on your device allow us to receive location information, we may also associate location information with other information we have about you. Such information may include:
- mobile advertising device IDs (MAIDs): these are IDFAs for iOS, and Android Ad IDs for Android
- Information about a User’s activities or actions and interaction with advertising (session start/stop time, and advertising click-stream information)
- IP addresses and general location data that can be extrapolated from an IP address level (city or postal code)
- Latitude and longitude geolocation information if a User has provided consent and enabled the mobile device to share location information.
You are always free to turn off geolocation (or limit it to certain mobile applications) or to adjust your advertising settings on your device.

UWL utilizes Blackbaud's fundraising platform within our site. Personal information is not shared or sold to third parties for their marketing purposes. Data that is shared with third parties is only to perform tasks on your behalf. Involved third parties respect our privacy policy.
