START CORRALSThe Turkey Trot started utilizing corrals for the beginning of the race in 2013. Corrals will continue to be used in the 2014 Turkey Trot race. Participants will be assigned start corrals based on their predicted finish time. Please make sure that you accurately predict your estimated finish time. Start corrals will be listed for participants on their race bibs. Participants who choose to push a stroller will NOT be allowed to run the race however they are welcome to walk. Participants and strollers will be in the last start corral.
Official results for the UW-L Turkey Trot are provided by PT Timing and we utilize MyLaps BibChip timing system. Disposable chips are imbedded into participant's bibs ensuring the most accurate finish time for each participant. Trotters time will start when they cross the start line and end when they cross the finish line. Unofficial results are available at the finish line and the overall results will be posted in the Recreational Eagle Center at the conclusion of the race and complete results will also be online.
Turkey Trotters will be placed in corrals consisting of other participants of similar pace. Each corral has its own start with a short cushion of time between each corral. This will help create a safer more enjoyable experience for all trotters.
Corrals have been assigned based on participants predicted finish time. There will be a 23:00 minute cushion between corral 1 and corral 2. All corrals after corral 2 will have a two minute cushion time between them.
Please arrive to your assigned corral prior to 9am. The trot will start at 9am sharp. You must line up in your assigned corral and will not be allowed to run in a faster corral than you are assigned to. You may however move back to another corral if you wish to participate with others.
PRIZES AND AWARDS You don't have to be the fastest runner to be a winner in the Turkey Trot. We reward participants who most closely predict their finish time along with the top finishers. CLOSEST PREDICTORS "Chip time" is used to identify who most closely predicts their finish time. The top 3 male and 3 female predictors without going over win a prize.
TOP FINISHERS "Gun time" is used to determine the top finishers in the race. All those participants wishing to compete for this top finisher award must race in corral 1, estimated finish time of under 24:00. The top overall 3 male and 3 female finishers win medals and awards.
AWARDS AGE DIVISIONS "Chip time: is used to determine the top 3 male and 3 female finishers in each age division. Top in each age division will win medals.
9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, & 70+
SUPPORT LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES Bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to local food pantries. COLORING CONTESTPrint off a picture of FLASH , color away and return to the Recreational Eagle Center.
ENTERTAINMENT There is a number of other events taking place before and after the race at the Recreational Eagle Center. PRE RACE there will be a flash tattoo station, Flash photo opps for both kids and adults! POST RACE snacks and beverages will be provided in the Recreational Eagle Center.
SUBWAY TEAM CHALLENGE The group, organization, or business that registers the most participants will win a sub party thanks to our friends at Subway. Register by having each team member write their team name in the trotter team affiliation section on the registration form. COSTUME CONTEST Costumes continue to add so much to our race. We'll once again be having our official costume contest! Register at the Recreational Eagle Center before the race on Saturday to be judged. The winning costume will win a prize.
PARKING AND ROAD CLOSURES La Crosse St. will be closed starting at 8am on race day. View map for alternative routes and parking options. THE COURSE 5K RACE: course is flat and includes a section through the La Crosse Marsh trail system. The race starts near Veterans Memorial Monument and finishes on the track in the UW-L Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
Jr. GOBBLER RACES: will take place on the track.
RESTRICTIONS No pets, watches or refunds.
