Consider serving on the Board of Directors for the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation! By serving as a volunteer for the Foundation, you will have opportunities to assist an organization that seeks to advance the excellence of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse through supporting strategic initiatives, advocacy, fundraising, alumni engagement, and community building.
Your service and commitment to the Foundation and University will allow you to gain:
- A deeper relationship with UWL
- An expanded network of professionals that share a common interest – UWL
- A direct connection to University leadership and frequent campus updates
- An opportunity to lend an important voice to guiding the future of the Foundation
- Access to special University events
Additionally, your Board experience will lead to personal and professional growth, including:
- Development of leadership, marketing, finance, and strategic planning skills
- Advocacy roles for important initiatives of the Foundation and University
- Opportunity to support and fund initiatives that are meaningful to you

Expertise in finance, accounting, philanthropy, athletics, science and health especially welcome!
Can you commit? Responsibilities of Directors include:
- Participation - Prepare for and attend quarterly Board meetings, actively serve on at least one standing committee, and share expertise and opinions on Board matters.
- Engagement - Carefully review all materials from the Foundation and University and conscientiously discuss all matters brought before the Board and committees.
- Representation - Have positive interactions on behalf of UWL with alumni, donors, parents, friends, government, community, campus, and businesses; attend University activities; serve as an ambassador; and advocate for quality higher education.
- Contribution - Make an annual gift to the Foundation with a goal of total annual contributions of $1,000 or more, consider higher levels of philanthropic support during major fundraising campaigns, and consider a legacy gift to the Foundation.
- Support of the Philanthropic Process - Actively participate in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and/or stewardship of donors and prospective donors.
- Service - Serve for an initial 3-year term that may be renewed twice for a total of up to three 3-year terms.

Consider serving as a Citizen Member for the UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation! Citizen Members are volunteers, not currently serving on the Board of Directors, who bring special expertise to the Foundation by serving on a committee. As a committee volunteer for the Foundation, you will have opportunities to assist an organization that seeks to advance the excellence of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse through supporting strategic initiatives, advocacy, fundraising, alumni engagement, and community building.
Foundation standing committees seeking Citizen Members include:
- Finance & Investment Committee
- Audit Committee
- Engagement & Philanthropy Committee
