    Same-sex marriage legislation in Wisconsin

    The Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) has prepared a frequently asked questions document describing the impacts of recent legislation changes on benefits for State employees with same-sex spouses. ETF will provide same-sex couples married in Wisconsin or in other states/countries a 30-day enrollment opportunity beginning October 15, 2014 (for marriages that took place before October 6, 2014). Contact the Human Resources office for more information.

    Annual Benefits Enrollment: The Time is Now. Evaluate, Enroll, Make Changes.

    The Annual Benefit Enrollment (ABE) period, from October 7 through October 31, is your only opportunity to make changes to your benefits unless you have an eligible family (e.g. marriage, birth, divorce) or employment change during the year.  All changes take effect on January 1, 2015.  Please visit for more information.

    Flu Shot Clinic

    UW-L employees and their family members are welcome to receive their annual flu vaccine on campus on Tuesday, November 11 in Port O' Call, Cartwright Center.  The clinic will run from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Staff from Gundersen Health Plan and Health Tradition Health Plan will be available to give the immunization free of charge to those employees who bring their health insurance card.  Those employees not covered by either health plan may pay for the vaccine through Gundersen.

    Wisconsin Deferred Compensation program on campus

    The Wisconsin Deferred Compensation (WDC) program allows you to make an automatic investment, deducted from your paycheck, for future supplemental retirement income.  The WDC will have an representative on campus for individual appointments with employees on Thursday, November 20 in the Cartwright Center.  Contact Human Resources to schedule your appointment.  More information is available on the WDC flyer.

    Hiring Temporary Office Support Staff

    Temporary office support staff are now hired through a temporary staffing agency under contract with the State of Wisconsin Bureau of Procurement. Supervisors should refer to the classified staff tab on the recruitment webpage for additional information.

    Emergency Contact Information  

    Is your Emergency Contact Information up to date? This information is imperative as we have had the need arise to contact a designee only to find no one is listed.  When medical or other emergencies come up, every minute counts.  Please help us help you out should the need ever arise.  You can update your information on your My UW System portal by clicking the "update my personal information" link or you may complete and return the emergency contact form to the Human Resources office.
