A native New Yorker, Barbara Tristano earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Manhattan School of Music. For many years she was a free-lance musician in New York City. Barbara was principal flute of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra for 8 years. Performances with many music festivals have included Spoleto, Filarmonica de las Americas and Eastern Musical Festival. Orchestral positions held include the Brooklyn Philharmonia, Goldovsky Opera, the Atlanta Opera and the Atlanta Chamber Players. Barbara has been on the faculty of The Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division, Long Island University, and Georgia State University. Currently she teaches at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, performs with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and is a member of Bluffside Consort.
