Permit Sale Instructions

2025-26 Student Parking Permit Sale Information  

Permit Sale Dates  

  • Monday, July 7 at 9am: Returning or Transfer UWL students with more than 60 credits, includes graduate students    
  • Monday, July 14 at 9am: Returning or Transfer UWL students with less than 60 credits    
  • Monday, July 21 at 9am: All new UWL students with an admit term of summer or fall   

Permits will not be available for purchase on the weekends of July 12-13 and July 19-20  (4:00 pm Friday – 9:00 am Monday).  

Parking Portal 

Permits are sold online through the Parking Portal using your UWL login credentials.  DO NOT CREATE A GUEST ACCOUNT. If you created a guest account or have a previous guest account, contact Parking Services so the guest account can be deleted.   

We strongly encourage students to test their access to the Parking Portal prior to the start of the permit sale on July 7th.  If you experience any issues, please contact us at 608-785-8061. 

Important Information Before You Enter the Parking Portal  

  1. By purchasing a permit, you enter into a contract with UWL and agree to abide byUWL parking policies.   
  2. Students living in the residence halls may purchase a resident (R lot) permit, and students living off campus may purchase a commuter (C lot) permit.  Commuter permits are not valid for overnight parking on campus.    
  3. Review the campus map to determine which lots you want to prioritize. Note the locations of resident and commuter lots. Lots are sold first come, first served. If a parking lot is not listed, it is sold out.   
  4. Have your vehicle information (make, model, color) and license plate number ready to enter into the permit sale portal. This can be done prior to the sale by clicking the “Vehicle” link at the top of the Parking Portal. The vehicle must be registered to the student or an immediate family member.   

Permit Purchase Instructions  (VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS)  

  1. Login in to the UWL Parking Portal with your UWL Net ID (not your email address)  
  2. Select “Get Permit”   
  3. Read instructions, select student type (commuter or resident), and Click Next   
  4. Select permit, read policies, and Check “I have read and accept the above permit agreement”, and Click Next   
  5. Select or add vehicle(s), and Click Next  
  6. Choose lot (if a lot is not listed it isSOLD OUT), and Click Next  
  7. Confirm purchase   
  8. Check out  
  9. If you have successfully completed these steps, you will see a payment receipt screen and will also receive a “Receipt for your transaction” email from parking@uwlax.edu.

Street Parking Info

The streets around the UWL parking ramp (Farwell, 16th, and 17th Streets) require UWL permits or campus payment. 

The City of La Crosse charges for hourly parking around the campus perimeter. This map of the areas around campus shows where you can expect to pay to park. 

Be sure to check the signs on the streets or contact our office for assistance.

A permit is required to park on campus. Those without permits may use the Passport Parking mobile app to pay for parking.   

Passport Parking zone numbers are: 

C-1: 350 C-9: 671
C-2: 669 C-12: 673

C-5: 1463 Farwell, 16th & 17th Street by Ramp: 450

Passport Parking Offers Hourly, Overnight Rates

The Passport Parking mobile app is available in ten commuter lots on campus. Zone numbers are posted on the lot signs. The mobile app defaults to a $1 per hour rate between 2 a.m.-7 p.m. and a $5 overnight rate from 7 p.m.-2 a.m.  

     

Weekend Parking Permits

Weekend visitors can purchase a weekend permit at Parking Services prior to the close of business on Friday afternoon. Students, faculty, and staff may purchase permits on behalf of campus visitors. The vehicle license plate is required at the time of purchase.

The cost is $10 and covers overnight parking for Friday and Saturday. Additional fees will be charged to park longer. Parking regulations are not enforced in commuter lots on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. - 2 a.m.
