Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation

  • Student organizations

The Department Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation hosts two student organizations.  Details of the two clubs are:

    The R.E.C. Club
(Recreational Opportunity, Experiential Education & Development, and Community Among Students & Professionals Club)

The R.E.C. Club is a group of Recreation Management students, and students interested in recreation who gather in a regular basis to offer opportunities for professional development, service, fundraising and to create a community among students, faculty, and professionals involved with recreation management.  Each year we engage in a variety of activities.

In 2014, for example, our first two gatherings focused on developing our club members professionally by supporting their attendance at the Wisconsin Parks & Recreation Society Annual Conference in The Dells.  10 members attended superb presentations, but more importantly, connected with an incredible number of professionals!  What a great way to become active in the profession while doing some excellent professional networking.

Our next activity was a bit more local - we took a group hike in the Hixon Forest area near the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.  Beautiful weather and an enthusiastic group made this a fun and relaxing way to remind ourselves of the importance outdoor recreation has in our daily lives.

Upcoming events for Fall 2014 include:  participating in the Annual Turkey Trot, Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army, and a rousing game of Dodgeball.

If you're interested in getting involved or would just like a little more information on our club, please feel free to contact either of the following individuals:
