Welcome to my web site

I am an aquatic ecologist and associate professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse (UW-L), La Crosse, WI 54601.  I am also a member of the UW-L River Studies Center

My courses include: Freshwater Invertebrate Zoology, Stream and Watershed Ecology, General Biology, and Animal Biology (laboratory instructor).  I am also developing a new graduate course (Spring 2003) titled the Life History: Evolution and Ecology.

My research interests include freshwater ecosystems, the biology of benthic invertebrates and fish, and landscape ecology. My primary research examines the behavioral ecology of benthic macroinvertebrates.  I am also interested in how landscape change affects the connectivity of freshwater ecosystems and the biological consequences of nonpoint source pollution.

Current research projects are underway in Myrick Marsh (an urban palustrine ecosystem), the Coon Creek Watershed, and the Upper Mississippi River.
