Donna Hansen Scholarship in Psychology
Established by the parents of Donna Hansen in memory of the
former Waupaca High School graduate and UW-L student.
CRITERIA: Psychology major; student completing his/her junior
year, involved in extracurricular activities on campus and
individual leadership qualities.
MAJOR: psychology
GPA: 3.5
YEAR IN SCHOOL: junior
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: general scholarship/award application
Thomas Harris Scholarship in Psychology
Established in loving memory of Tom Harris by his family and
friends. Tom served the department of psychology at UW-L for
several years.
CRITERIA: Full time student with declared psychology major; good
academic standing, based on academic merit and financial need.
MAJOR: psychology
GPA: good academic standing with above average GPA
FINANCIAL NEED: to be considered
YEAR IN SCHOOL: junior
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: general scholarship/award application
Alan C. Howe Memorial Scholarship Fund in Sociology and
Psychology
The Howe Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Alan
Howe who served the
administrative computing services office. This special fund was
amended to benefit students majoring in sociology and
psychology.
CRITERIA: Recipient must be enrolled at UW-La Crosse with a
major in sociology or psychology; must be in good academic
standing with at least a 3.0 gpa; may be a sophomore, junior,
senior or graduate student with preference given to
non-traditional students; preference will be given to potential
recipients who have a demonstrated interest in family/alcohol
rehabilitation or, in the alternative, whose career plans focus
on working in the area of human services; financial need may be
considered but only as a tie-breaker. Each year one award shall
be given to a major in sociology and one award shall be given to
a major in psychology.
MAJOR: sociology or psychology who have a demonstrated interest
in family/alcohol rehab or whose career plans focus on working
in the area of human services
GPA: 3.0
FINANCIAL NEED: may be considered but only as a tie-breaker
YEAR IN SCHOOL: sophomore, junior, senior or graduate with
preference to a non-traditional student
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: general scholarship/award
Psychology Alumni Scholarship Fund
Established by the psychology department to support psychology
students.
CRITERIA: Recipient must be enrolled at UW-L with a major in
psychology with at least a 2.5 gpa in psychology; may be a
junior or senior; financial need should not be considered;
preference should be given for student applicants actively
involved in psychology related extracurricular activities
(clubs, volunteer work, internships, etc.)
MAJOR: psychology
GPA: 2.5 in psychology
FINANCIAL NEED: not considered
YEAR IN SCHOOL: junior or senior
